as the clock 'tong' - a tragic beginning...
12.31.04 (10:46 pm) [edit]
as the clock 'tong' once again in 50 years, i heard the bell softy and rustily rang twelve times. and that's it. end of 2004, and here comes 2005.
in the light of tsunami disaster in south asia and south east asia, we at uniquely singapore cancelled the planned 8 minutes fireworks show. pity as it seems to feel there's something missing without fireworks for spend the new year, but with due respect to those victims of the tsunami, we should tone down all celebration. it's saddening to watch channel-news-asia reports and pictures and real-live happenings in india and other parts of asia. i watched indian widow left alone, her husband and family washed out by the cruel storm. old lady left with a daughter-in-law and grandchild to support. all bodies found everywhere. houses all swaped out. it's not just sad. it's a tragic. [b]have you donated anything yet? [/b]
maybe it's the tsunami that made everything didn't go right... i'm not sure, it just didn't feel right. probably not the 'right moment'.
i do look forward to this year... 2005! i'm the kind of person whom always look forward to the future, because i always have lotsa plans and lotsa things that i wanna do. there's a few things i could expect this year. i'm not sure if i'm looking forward to it, or i wish to get it over with once and for all.
1. chinese new year. maybe just because of the need for celebration and happiness. because only when the time for celebration, people get together.
2. valentine's day. i'm not sure if 2004's valentine's day was good for me. i did had a valentine (guess not alot of people knew) but it lasted 'that' short. not quite sure what i'm looking for this time.
3. national service medical check up. for once and for all. just get it over with. (in feb)
4. american idol. something that makes people of all ages talk about.
5. communicasia. my super ultra major event. not quite sure how am i gonna handle all the stress. but i'm confident i can handle it. singapore will be packed with overseas visitors by then...
6. my last day at work with my intern company, singapore exhibition service. it would be quite a mixed feelings i guess. happy and sad to leave.
7. which follows to this, which is being graduated from shatec and finally, a diploma student major in tourism management. it's so not easy to be a tourism student in shatec. poly is so 'out-of-fashion'. the real world starts with shatec. and i'm glad i went there
8. overseas trip. not sure if i'll be going anywhere in 2005. 2004 is an amazing year for me. i travelled to places that i've been, i've never been. wondering what's for me in 2005 for travel schedule. not sure if i got the cash, since i've got plans. will talk about my plans.
9. national service. yes. it's a sure thing. but i don't know when. after july. i wish to get into the police force seriously. and hopefully, by 2005, so i'll be out by 2007. just in time to go beijing for 2008's olympics. heh! just kidding. i just wish to get it over with. national slavery. that's so lame.
10. graduation day. shatec. should be in around december. that's usually the case. can't wait for my graduation. i'm glad shatec has a pretty glam grad ceremony. it's a singapore hotel association back-up don't they?!
basically, that's something that i know it will happen in the near future, 2005. i really wish to save some money for future use. i don't know what i will do. but i do know, whatever i do, i need money. but i'm just such a big spender, plus i'm not getting a big amount of money each month. hmm...
my future plans. not sure which will happen. maybe more than 1 will happen. or maybe none.
before national service 1. visit europe again. i just love europe. probably with insight vacation, trafalgar or contiki tours. but most prob, it won't happen.
after national service 2. open a shop in orchard area, and be my own boss. sellings apparels, and whatever that people buy. so-not-easy.
3. go to china and get a travel/tourism related job. maybe beijing or shanghai. or maybe even a hotel job. after ns, it's would be 2007. just in time to catch the 2008 HUGE event in beijing. it would definitey bring big cash.
4. go to japan for 1 or 3months and learn japanese. it's a very short term plan, cos' it's only 1 or 3months. but i'm not sure what i want to do after learning basic japanese in japan. work in an attraction in singapore? or maybe it's good to help in SES still, as we;ve got quite a lot of japanese companies participating. i don't know. but it's always good to know another language.
5. this is the plan i'm looking forward to. but i need at least 2000 british pounds. which is at least singapore dollars 6000. hoping to get a working holiday visa and be a working holiday maker in united kingdom. already have got contact of some singaporean working holiday maker. will learn more from them i guess. work in uk, at the same time, to travel around and experience life in the uk. hopefully to find jobs like working in an attraction (ticket seller), receptionist (front office agent) in a hotel, or a waiter in london's chinatown? since ses got a agent in london, maybe i can work in overseas exhibition service as well. can earn enough money to go other parts of europe and travel. it's sound fun! 2 years. sigh, gonna waste my two years in singapore doing national service first. "protect your country comes first" --- hmm...
6. if only i got the money. huge amount of money. or scholarship and sponsorship (which is almost impossible, since i'm just a private school student), i would love to go further my studies. in the united states, especially hawaii. or maybe australia - a cheaper choice.
i simply loves making plans.
i wish you all happy 2005. be good and be happy.

tidal waves in part of asia
12.27.04 (4:39 am) [edit]
it saddens me to see natural disasters happens and killed thousands and thousands and thousands of people in various parts of asia (sri lanka, india, thailand, indonesia, malaysia).
i feel fortunate to live in singapore where natural disasters is what i don't have to worry about. to be protected by this, i send my blessing to those who are in need, and for those who lost their lives by the natural killer. we can't stop it when nature goes wild isn't it?
bless it all. nature calls. mercy for those had it all. mote it be.

5 days to xmas!
12.19.04 (5:55 am) [edit]
yes! 5 more days to christmas. i annouce that christmas is officially my favourite holiday!!!
did lotsa shopping, and yes, christmas shopping is also official my favourite things to do!
still remember this time last year, i'm doing my christmas shopping in london, and most of the time - in oxford. feeling the cold weather, wearing winter clothings. this year, this winter - it's a singaporean winter - warm... and shopping not exactly as good as what they have in the other part of the world. (post-xmas shopping in uk is SUPER) - christmas is about spending time with your love ones, and i'm glad my friends, my classmates, my family are with me.
wel well well. spent lotsa money on xmas presents as well. beside for classmates, mazi, ah ni, ah ber - i bought presents for almost everyone in the company. heh, interesting yey. well, it's xmas!
this xmas gonna be better than all of the xmas i ever had - i believe. to everyone, have a good xmas, be good, care, love and share. take and give. mote it be.
